Morgan on Canada Day

Morgan Gets a New Fountain

This year we met Jim and Sherry and Rebecca and Brielle at the Canada Day Parade.

The parade was pretty piss-poor (and yes, I’m sure it is a lot of work to organize and kudos to all that made an effort, but in my books putting a $0.10 Canadian Flag in your vehicle window and driving down main street advertising your business just doesn’t cut it) but we had a great time with Jim and Sherry.

Morgan quite enjoyed it which was good.

We went to the park after the parade and took a peek at some of the great artisan crafts but refrained from buying anything (actually, we forgot our wallets but we’ll get to the crafts at the big fair in August).

Here are a few pictures (w/ a few videos).

Morgan's First Birthday

Morgan's First Birthday

Half of Morgan’s family lives here in Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast and half live in Regina in Saskatchewan.

We flew to visit them for the first time and to celebrate her first birthday.  So for her first birthday, Morgan actually had two parties – not bad!

We flew via Westjet with our obligatory stop overs in Edmonton (going) and Calgary (returning).  We were able to get an extra seat for Morgan on all four flights, so Beth took the isle seat, I took the window seat, and Morgan was passed back and forth in the middle seat.

She is a great flying baby.  She didn’t seem to mind the ups and downs and REALLY liked the turbulence.  She made googoo eyes with EVERYONE and even had a lady playing peek-a-boo and other games on the way back.

It was great to see all of the Craig family; Morgan finally got to meet her cousins, Cole and Zoey, Aunt Susan and Uncle Shawn, Uncle Mike, Great Uncle Ken and Great Aunt Fiona, and Great Grandmother Marion.  She had a full week of going to the swimming pool, the local parks, the Saskatchewan Children’s Festival, the Science Center, shopping centers, restaurants, and a ton of other things.  She had her first dim sum in Saskatoon and her first hot banana pepper at Fudd Ruckers (loved it).

We now have to get her back into her proper sleep patterns and get her routine going again.

Here are a few pictures.

Morgan's First Birthday

Today Morgan celebrated her 1st Birthday with all of her family and friends on the Sunshine Coast.

We met at the Sechelt Aquatic Center for cupcakes, juice, and a swim.

With the one small oversight that babies and open flames don’t mix we had a great time!

She received some beautiful sun dresses and sun hats and some great summer toys.

After presents and a sugar rush, we all headed in for a swim and and a soak.

Thank you to everyone who helped make her day wonderful!

We’ve also come to the conclusion that it’s time for a new camera.  There were some really nice shots that were botched because the sensors on this camera
are already dying (2.5 years old!).  Also, what is in focus in the viewfinder is not in focus on the output – frustrating! So if you have any recommendations, we’re all ears.

Some photos!

Morgan rides her first horse (Misty)

Tonight we went to Tracey’s for a BBQ with the family.

Morgan rode her first horse, rode her first dog, bounced on the trampoline with her cousins, played with her first My Little Pony, and generally had a great time.

We also had a little visitor in our back yard… Morgan was fascinated.

Today is our 2nd Anniversary.

2nd Anniversary

We spent a wonderful sunny weekend with out little girl.

On Saturday we went to The Old Boot Eatery and had a terrific meal.  We experimented with Morgan to see if she ever really could become full.  I think she put away pretty close to an adults portion of food (she ate all of my mushrooms).  She got sleepy and we headed back for dessert, leaving behind a high-chair covered in salad, focaccia bread, oil and vinegar, and pasta.

Sunday was a day of complete R&R with a wonderful Indian dinner.

Two years and counting!
